Wine of the Week: Chardonnay

2019 The Federalist Chardonnay

Wine and football go together with The Federalist 2019 Chardonnay. This week’s  wine is a delicious oaky piña colada in a glass. It is a full bodied Chardonnay produced from grapes grown in Mendocino County. With the use of French and Hungarian oak and a bit of American oak you get aromas of coconut and vanilla. However since only 35% of the oak is new oak, it is well balanced with fruity citrus and tropical aromas and flavors of apple, pineapple, and lemon. The Malolactic Fermentation and lees aging add to its complexity with notes of butter and yeast. With its nice balance, long finish, intense flavors and complexity the 2019 Chardonnay is an excellent wine to pair with the upcoming Super Bowl.
